Alaska Adventure & Survival Workshop for Women
Time & Location
About The Event
Join me at the rustic and beautiful Twin Bears Camp in Alaska for an adventure and survival skills workshop! We will immerse ourselves in the skills needed to feel confident and competent in the outdoors. This includes: fire making, shelter building, fishing, foraging, knife and ax skills, self protection, safe travel in the backcountry, gear selection, food and water procurement/preparation, survival psychology, dealing with predators, survival kits, and more! This event is great for those just getting started in the outdoors and wanting to learn new skills and test themselves. You will need to be in good physical condition as we will be hiking at least twice- with day hikes consisting of 3 to 8.5 miles on varied terrain (from flat to steep grade, rocks, dirt, gravel, moss) in the backcountry. Please check with your doctor to make sure you are physically capable and are conditioned ahead of time to participate safely and without assistance. Your footwear should be broken in BEFORE you arrive and you should be able to comfortably hike with a day pack weighing less than 15 pounds for several miles BEFORE the event. Be honest with yourself about your capabilities before registering. Lodging is in rustic cabins at a rustic camp. Each camper will have their own cabin. Bunk beds have mattresses. Bring your own bedding. There are vault toilets and a shared shower house. Meals will be provided. Transportation from the Fairbanks airport or nearby hotels is provided to the camp. As a special treat, we will be visiting Chena Hot Springs resort to soak in their famous hot springs and enjoy lunch! Expect to learn a lot and come away inspired for your own outdoor adventures! A complete and detailed info sheet on what to bring and what to expect will be emailed to you prior to the event. Hope to see you there!
